Cardinals Announce New North Phoenix Training Facility

Big news for Valley sports fans — the Arizona Cardinals are officially breaking ground on a new era, but do they really deserve it after Sunday's game?

The team announced plans to build a state-of-the-art training and headquarters facility at Paradise Ridge in North Phoenix, just west of Scottsdale Road and north of Loop 101. This new complex will be the anchor of a 217-acre mixed-use development, with the Cardinals’ footprint covering about 30 acres and totaling more than 250,000 square feet. Completion is expected in 2028.

The Cardinals purchased the land this summer for $136 million, shifting away from their long-time Dignity Health Training Center in Tempe, which has been home since 1990. The Tempe facility sits on 14 acres and measures 156,000 square feet — meaning this new move nearly doubles their space.

“Our goal has always been to provide our players and coaches with the best possible environment to prepare and perform at the highest level,” said Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill. “As we evaluated our options, it became clear that we needed more space than what was available at our current location or elsewhere in Tempe.”

The project will be designed by Rossetti, a well-known sports architecture firm behind many modern training facilities across the country.

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego called the project a “game-changing investment,” highlighting how it will contribute to the city’s growing “Headquarters Alley” — an emerging corridor of innovation and commerce.

The new facility will include:

🏈 Three outdoor grass practice fields

🏟 A full-size indoor fieldhouse

💪 Expanded locker rooms and recovery spaces

⚙️ Modern strength, conditioning, and sports medicine facilities

🖥 High-tech meeting rooms and a player lounge

Beyond football, the Cardinals will partner with the City of Phoenix and the Arizona Commerce Authority to fill out the rest of the development with a mix of corporate offices, restaurants, retail, medical facilities, and residential options — creating a true live-work-play community.

With this move, the Cardinals aren’t just expanding their space — they’re investing in the long-term growth of North Phoenix and the surrounding corridor. It’s another exciting step for the Valley as sports, business, and community continue to intertwine in bold new ways.
