Game Day in the Desert: Where Every Bar Has a Team

Last weekend I drove 45 minutes up to Cave Creek, and honestly — it was a blast. Each bar turns into its own little stadium: a pocket of pride, noise, and team colors. The air hums with rivalries, cheers, and the smell of barbecue and desert dust.

The Roadhouse? A full Chicago Bears takeover. They even cut the music after a big play and blast the Bears theme song — everyone on their feet, beers in the air, like a little slice of Soldier Field dropped right into the desert. Next door, Harold’s Corral flies its Steelers flags high, while Buffalo Chip Saloon glows in Packers green and gold.

If you’re wondering where to catch your favorite team across the Valley, here’s a list of local fan hubs — each with its own vibe and crowd energy.

🏈 Cave Creek Favorites

Harold’s Corral – Steelers Bar📍 6895 E Cave Creek Rd, Cave CreekThe self-proclaimed “Heinz Field West.” Black and gold everywhere, from décor to jerseys. Expect loud cheers, big screens, and a family-style crowd that’s been showing up for years.

The Roadhouse – Chicago Bears Bar📍 6900 E Cave Creek Rd, Cave CreekA loyal Chicago crowd fills the place on game day. Music off, Bears fight song on. Great pub food, cold beer, and the kind of collective joy that makes strangers high-five like old friends.

Buffalo Chip Saloon – Green Bay Packers Bar📍 6823 E Cave Creek Rd, Cave CreekRustic, rowdy, and deeply Wisconsin. Cowboy boots meet cheeseheads — and somehow it works perfectly.

🏙️ Around Scottsdale & Phoenix

Rockbar – Eagles Bar📍 4245 N Craftsman Ct, ScottsdaleHome to the Eagles West fan club. Think Philly grit meets Old Town nightlife — loud, loyal, and full of green jerseys.

K O’Donnell’s Sports Bar & Grill – 49ers Bar📍 14850 N Northsight Blvd, ScottsdaleCasual, friendly, and known for great food. A go-to for Bay Area transplants repping red and gold.

Loco Patrón Mexican Brewery – Packers Bar📍 14950 N Northsight Blvd, ScottsdaleGreen Bay fans pack in here when they can’t make it up to Cave Creek. More margaritas than beer brats, but the energy’s pure Lambeau.

Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row – Broncos Bar📍 4420 N Saddlebag Trail, ScottsdaleBroncos fans in blue and orange fill the place. Country vibes, rowdy crowd, live music after the game.

The Lodge Sasquatch Kitchen – Vikings Bar📍 26 S Farmer Ave, TempeA purple crowd with Midwestern warmth. Burgers, craft beer, and plenty of Skol chants.

Whether you’re cheering for the hometown Cards or representing your faraway favorite, there’s a bar somewhere in the Valley that feels like home on Sundays.

So next weekend, throw on your jersey, grab your friends, and join the noise. You don’t need season tickets, just the right stool and a good crowd.
